I am going to buy new gun (CZ-99 mmPara, 15+1, chromed). That gun is improved copy of SIG P226. Is 9mm Para caliber enough for self defense? Do you think that I will make smart choice? Please, help with your advice.

If this is the gun I think it is, made by a Yugoslavian firm (as opposed to the Czechoslovakian CZ firm), the gun is NOT an improved copy of the SIG 226.

The CZ-99s I've seen reviewed and tested are, in fact, based on the CZ-75 design. And while the CZ-75 is a very good gun, the CZ-99 is by no means as good as the SIG 226.

Buy a used SIG 226, or get a new or used CZ-75); you'll end up with a better gun, made of better stuff, which will be more reliable and probably more accurate, too.

Chromed, by the way, looks good, but its not a practical finish if you ever plan to carry a concealed weapon. (It is durable...)

I agree with Walt. Get a new CZ75 or a used Sig 226. You could probably find a new CZ75 cheaper than a used Sig, and 9mm loaded with the correct ammunition is an acceptable round for self-defense. Mike
