Hi,

Just got a new model 19-3 :D and I was wondering if one of you could tell me when it was made. Serial # is K919xxx

THANKS!!!

My Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson shows the 19-3 introduced in 1967, produced thru 1977 (19-4). Will try to nail it down a bit further tomorrow. Nice gun, pinned and recessed.

The 19-3 change was the relocation of the rear sight leaf screw. The pinned and recessed cylinder went adios in 1982.

Just got back from taking it to the range.

HOLY CRAP!!!

This thing shoots like a dream! SA is *crisp* and lighter then I would have thought possible without light strikes or cocking problems.

DA is soooooooo smooth and light it feels like a 1/4 inch pull. I actually had to dry fire it couple times watching from the side cause at first I thought someone had shortened the pull somehow.

Trigger is far better then my 29-2, which until now was what I thought to be the best I had ever tried.

POA accuracy out to 25 yards. No jams, binding, light strikes, NADA.

I think I need like 10 more of these :D:D :D :D :cool:

maxinquaye;

It looks like you have a 1969 production model.

1969........K848782-K946391

Congratulations on your classic purchase.

OK, I admit sometimes my mom makes me stop dry firing and clean my crayon scribbles off the walls, but hey, as long as she keeps me in ammo...

I too have a 19-3, police trade in gun. Sweetest trigger, both double and single action, of any gun in my collection, including my Pythons! Mine is in 4 inch trim and is a handy size for shooting and carrying. Not too heavy, not too light, one of the best things to ever come from Smith & Wesson.
