Plastic Framed 1911

Does anyone manufacture a plastic framed single stack 1911?

They've been made in double stack versions and several other designs have used plastic, so it seems like it could be done easily.

I don't want one, but was curious. It seems there might be a market for something that could use all regular 1911 parts (maybe even a few plastic parts which some manufacturers already do) to make something cheaper or lighter. Some have claimed plastic framed pistols are even better than alluminum alloy framed versions.

Kimber does offer a plastic framed 1911, but it is a DOUBLE STACK version. I'm wondering if any SINGLE STACK versions exist.

The closest thing to a polymer framed single stack 1911 that I am aware of is the Wilson KZ-45. You can see one and read about it here www.wilsoncombat.com/pistols/kz45.asp It is not exactly a single stack but it isn't a double coulumn either. It was designed post-ban as a 10+1 gun. It's grip is actually thinner than a standard 1911 grip. I have heard good and bad about this gun...no personal experience though. To each his own...me, I think anything other than die hard cold steel on a 1911 is blasphemy (save maybe an aluminum trigger and some wood grips).

Um...Goet, I sense sarcasm...I'm not sure why??? I believe we are discussing polymer framed 1911s. The Pro Carry is not polymer framed, nor is it a 1911. A 1911 by definition is a full size all steel 5" gun in .45 ACP. So I guess by definition, a 1911 can't have a polymer frame. Semantics will get you every time.
