plain jane 1911's?

Does anyone besides Colt make a plain 1911 without the beefy Springfield frame? It seems that the only "slim" frame 1911's out there are Colts and Kimbers, at least in the affordable range, and Kimber doesnt make a plain one.

Any ideas?

Springfields recent production guns have the more rounded front strap profile.

Auto-ordinance is supposed to be o.k. now...just make sure you buy a new one made by KHAR, and dont buy a used one...their not so good.

Buy a Shotgun News and find the best deal on a systima .45...many sell these for way too much.

A horsey (clolt) is not as expensive as they were a year ago. The new models even lack the tacky "1919 A1" stamp and revert back to the older roll marks. (Government, series 80, etc.). I have seen them as low as 500 in gunshows. New but older model 1919A1's are going for 450 round these parts. My answer, try to save up for a decent new forged CNC machiened .45 if at all possible...you wont regret it.

What's wrong with beefy?

I like beefy burgers and steaks, but not guns! Thankfully Springfield is finally giving us properly-contoured 1911s, and not the big thick meaty slabs I kept seeing and wanting to squirt some ketchup on!
