Place to buy portable cover for training?

I hope this is posted in the correct section.

I'm looking for some mock cover for training scenerios in a firearm training simulator room. They need to be freestanding, light enough to be taken down and stored in a closet or set aside at least, but not so light that they are portable.

Specifically, I need:

1) Something tall enough for someone to stand behind and shoot from the cover.

2) Something that is short enough that the trainee will have to knee to be covered and then shoot from behind.

3) Something about the height of a car hood to simulate using that for cover (can still be only as thick as a door though).

2 and 3 could be the same height.

Is there anywhere that sells something like this online, or is my only hope to fabricate it myself or get it custom made? Materials I am thinking of are wood, hard plastic, very light metal, etc.

Thanks!

Frame

Sounds like a PVC pipe frame would work. Some elbows and Ts could fit together a number of ways and would be easy to re-configure or take apart and store.

A frame made of PVC, 2x4", metal tubing, etc would work well.

You might try a 2x4" frame with a piece of heavy tarp blocking the opening might work for you as well. I've made and used similar 'fake cover' with good results. It's cheap ($50-$75 for materials) and you get five or six simulated cover stands.

You can build a PVC frame as described, or you can just take a sheet of plywood and cut a series of steps in it and put a foot on it for stability. With the plywood you can also cut out "windows" at various heights.

I think the OP understands that, as he has asked for "mock cover for training scenerios in a firearm training simulator room." But a good reminder for those who might not know the difference.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize I had more replies from this weekend until now.

I think my coworker who I was helping has something in mind now, but I'm not sure what. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

Check out the plans for portable cover/training aid in Kyle Lamb's book Green Eyes, Black Rifles. They are portable, stable, and made to allow you to train a variety of firing positions-both strong and weak side.
