Pittsburgh residents at least, take note

During the tonight's telecast of Jag, that's KDKA Television, Channel 2, at approximately 9:30 PM, perhaps a bit later, I saw and heard the following.

It was an ad placed by moveon.org, or so the credit indicated, which contained an outright lie, one that I assume the local station, likely the network too, unless it was simply a local thing, could hardly have been unaware of, and is therefore a party to, or so it would appear.

A picture of an AKM, or AK-47, perhaps one of the Romanian made SAR-10's currently imported appeared on the screen, along with the sound of FULL AUTOMATIC FIRE, which the SAR-10 is NOT capable of, unless illegally modified. The AK-47 and AKM are, but except for import for or by government agencies, they are not available, legally that is, in this country, excepting for the small number that might have been registered by individuals, however that might have been accomplished.

There was some text that went on about the sun set of the assault weapons ban, the inference being that the streets would be awash in machine guns, obviously not the case. Moveon.org can say anything it likes, however doesn't KDKA, a licensed broadcaster have an obligation to make the truth available to it's viewers?

Think that they will broadcast any sort of "editors note" or "correction", or that they will hide behind "we didn't produce that material", perhaps simply stone wall the thing? If they cry innocent because they merely broadcast the lie, and didn't actually produce it, technically they would be correct, however it remains that they did broadcast it, and that they SHOULD HAVE KNOWN the representations contained in the ad to be false.

Strikes me that they are therefore party to the distribution of a lie, a big lie at that, and that ladies and gentlemen is the problem.
