Pitting in a remmie?

So I got a line on an 8", steel frame .44 with adjustable sights... $120... Thing is there is pitting in the barrel. Fairly widespread at that.

Sooo... How big a problem is this? I mean.. with the pits in the same place, shot after shot, will I be able to compensate with the target sights, or is it a parts gun?

Shoot it before worrying.
It might be just fine.
Pitted barrels don't always mean bad news.
Guns are funny that way.

Rock on.. I'll keep it mind, thanks!

Sadly, in this case, I was beat out by that damnible "buy it now" button... Hateful little critters they are!

Howdy

I have lots of guns that are over 100 years old. Most of them have pitted bores. As long as the rifling is still strong, they usually shoot just fine. When I buy an old gun I never let some pitting in the bore dissuade me from buying it as long as the rifling is strong.

I would not hesitate to buy a modern replica with a pitted bore as long as the price was right.
