Pistol Grip Only to Full Stock?

I have 2 Mossberg 500's.

1) Full length stock
Blued

2) Pistol Grip Only
Parkerized

This is how both came from the factory.

I have seen this subject on here before, and it only gets confusing.

Does ATF give a flying dolphin's butt if I swap the stocks in order to have the full one on the parkerized?

I don't believe it should matter. I think as long as the overall length exceeds 26" you should be fine. Keep in mind I used the words "believe" and "think." Hopefully someone else can give a definite reply.

Had the gun been under .50 bore, Mossberg could have built a short barrel version with NO WAY TO SHOULDER the weapon and sold it as a pistol. The serial number will come back as a "hand gun" and if you ever mount a shoulder stock on the "pistol" than you now have a short barrel weapon...

But if it has a bore in excess of .50 inches than it ain't possible since a "handgun" has to be .50 or less.

So short answer... Mossberg sells shotguns with 18+ inch barrel to us americans... stock don't matter...
