Pipe cleaner

Ok, I hear of many people using pipe cleaners to clean certain parts of a gun. Is that stuff essentially the same as Gun Scrubber?
Also, is Gun Scrubber the same as brake cleaner? I hear that it is, and that brake cleaner is cheaper.

Pipe cleaners are those fuzzy little wires that the pipe smokers use to clean out their pipe stems.

As to Gun Scrubber being the same as brake cleaner, I don't know, none of my Gun Scrubber cans list the stuff it is made of/with. I use SUPER-X brake cleaner that contains: CARBON DIOXIDE (CAS #124-38-9), XYLENE (CAS #1330-20-7), ACETONE (CAS #67-64-1) and N-HEPTANE (CAS #142-82-5), the same stuff that is in one of the other spray gun cleaners on the market. $3.00/20 oz. can v. $12.00/20 oz. can. Check the labels of the cans before you buy, there are several different chemicals in the various brake cleaners. I look for the stuuff that contains the same chemicals as thee xpensive gun cleaners.

BTW, do a search on the subject, there has been a lot of discussion on this in the past.

IMHO, FWIW, YMMV and LS/MFT
