Pinning a folding stock open

Greetings,

I bought a Marlin Camp 45 recently. This gun is reputed to split the factory wooden stock eventually. The only aftermarket stock I could find is a folder made by Choate, which I bought on Auction Arms.

Can anyone offer any tips for pinning this stock open in a manner that will keep me on the right side of the law? I have thought about locking it open then pouring a mess of Marine Tex inside and letting it cure. What do you think?

Thanks for any help. Regards,

Is this carbine preban? If so, how will they know it didn't have a folding stock the whole time? ;)

Unfortunately

The gun was manufactured in 1995. Hence my dilemma. Also, I live in the formerly great state of Kalifornia. God forbid the stock on my carbine should allow for easy transport or storage.

in other words
how permanant is ATF permanant

pinned & welded is the usual fallback

doesn't this stock have a pistol grip?

ya gotta watch yer CA feature count:
Generic Characteristics Defining Assault Weapons:
12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Penal Code section 12276, “assault weapon” shall also mean the following:
Rifles
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of
the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10
rounds.
(3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

Given the light of this new info on the law, I think the best thing to do would be to send the carbine and the folding stock to me. I'll be sure that no government officials are able to confiscate it.

Did I already say cr@p?

Ahem. Guess I'll have to save this stock until I move to a free state (or the SHTF). Ahem.

(Whistling inconspicuously, walking away, changing user-name).
