Pietta/Uberti/others

I have two older 36 caliber 1851s w/steel frame one has been "defarbed" and has no markings on frame or barrel and no serial number. The other is a Euroarms with .36 caliber on the barrel. I see no maker's marks or at least no Uberti mark. Doc Hoy said the Euroarms is probably ASM.

My question is.. is there some way to gain a clue as to a gun's mfg. without the mfg.'s markings? Maybe some physical differences ever so slight? I believe the hammer tips on these two are a teenie bit different.

Doc
I was asked to repost here just in case you were wondering and yer not gittin the guns.

Euroarms is Euroarms, previously Armi san Paolo(ASP)They were the manufacturer. AFAIK there's no real way to tell who made one without markings. There were too many manufacturers churning them out in the 60's and 70's.

I have seen....

....ASPs which were marked on the grip frame under the grips.

Have to take the pistol apart to see the marking. It is DGG for Doninelli, Grassi and Gazzola. The letters are arranged in a triangle.

Also new to BP

Waiting for my Pietta 1858 44 to arrive. Also ordered a black powder user guide.Looking for a supplier of ammo ect near the San Fernando Valley (CA)

Thanks in advance.

I sell revolver balls

Hi mike.t,
I sell Hornady revolver balls mostly in packs of 5 boxes of 100 for $61 shipped by flat rate priority mail.
I will also combine shipping for more than 5 boxes.
I just sold my last 5 pack of .454 balls, but I have plenty of .451 balls right now.

My TFL classified ad:

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451929

I use the .451's in my Pietta 1858.
They are easier to ram especially if using the loading lever on the gun or if it's a 5.5" Sheriff model that has a shorter ram handle.
I expect to have more .454's in about one week.
Possibly sooner but the holiday may cause a delay.
Let me know if I can help you out.
