Pietta Traditions 45LC SAA

So I've sort of inherited a matching set of Pietta Traditions Liberty Series SAA (with transfer bar) in 45 Colt. The lockup is tight, timing seems perfect, bluing is deep. I'm not 100% on the lazer engraving but the wife thinks they're beautiful so that works. I'm unfamiliar with Pietta. After some time googling they seem to be a good company. Any experience with these? What do you think?

No experience with the Pietta 73 but plenty of experience with their cap & balls. They're good guns. A little heavy on the springs.

I own Pietta revolers made from the 70s to the 2010s, in my experience they are solid guns. Don't have a 73, mine are cap and ball. As Hawg says springs can be heavy.
I would be happy to own the guns you have, I think they will serve you well.

Very nice and thank you !!!

What do you think?
I think you should win; "The picture of The Month Award" as these are simply beautiful. The only thing that folks might balk, is that they are not domestic. There is nothing wrong with the quality of these. Be careful as the scroll work, might just be a surface wash and not engraved. ..... :)

Thank you and;
Be Safe !!!

the pieeta guns are a lot better than the oberto guns and the pederseli guns to these day . they are on sale at cabelas all the time, the brass frame confederate navy 44s which i hear general lee carried at gettysburg. i like that they are so cheap compared to the other spaghetti western guns . they are all i shoot these days .

Thanks for the vote Pahoo! I think you're right on the scrollwork. It is lightly done. The bluing however is very good.

I just read that Pietta opened a new plant a year and a half ago and these came out of it. Uberti has a different plant that retooled in 2012. Definitely different.

Lee carried a 51 navy which all were .36 caliber and steel frame. Colt never made a brass frame revolver and nobody made a brass frame .44
Pietta better than Pedersoli? C'mon get real. Not going to say Pietta is better than Uberti but just as good.

I would have to make a nice display case for thsoe, as I wouldn't want to mar the finish of them with cleaning. They are great looking guns that I would be proud to own, and display.

I own a pair of Cimarron Model P Evil Roy 45LC with 5.5" barrels. Nowhere near as pretty as your Piettas, but they have great triggers and are well made. Nothing wrong with Italian pistols. I would own a pair of Colt SAA... if I could afford them. Since I can't I make do with my Cimarron clones and really enjoy shooting them. Since buying my first Ruger Single Six 22LR/22WMR I have been hooked on single action pistols. .45 Colt is an excellent cartridge IMHO. Enjoy your Piettas.

I own an insurance brokerage and have been working 12+hour days and havent had a chance to get to the range with them yet. Its driving me insane, I'm really excited to choot'em!!!

Those are pretty.

I have some Piettas. They are good pistols. My wife shoots a pair as her main match pistols.

Howdy

Laser engraving typically is not as deep as traditional hand carved engraving. It is burned into the metal with a laser, it is not a 'surface wash'.
