pietta smith carbine

I just brought a pietta smith carbine, could anyone please tell me what calibre bullet and wieght I should use in the pietta model.
The pietta website said to use a 0.510 bullet is this correct. :)
 
I'd guess that .510" conical maybe instead of a .490" patched ball for a .50 cal Smith Carbine could be correct.
I dunno for sure sorry jus' some input... always liked the Smith.
 
Try asking on the N-SSA forums, they shoot alot of Smiths there. Used to shoot a Yeck Arms Smith years ago, wish I still had it. I believe I used a .515 bullet with 25 grns of FFG in a aluminum case. You'll have to plug your barrel to be sure of the exact dia. before you get a mold. I use a Lyman mold 515139 330 gr 50 cal.
