Pietta Hartford

I'm kinda confused here....I thought the "HARTFORD" models (muzzleloaders, not cartridge) were built by Uberti and imported by EMF, or IAR. I have a 1860 Army sherrifs model, 5 1/2 bbl, with pietta stampings all over it, and the HARTFORD stamped on top of barrel. I guess I'm a little confused because..... the IAR stamping on the grip (those 3 "fancy style" letters) should be IAR, where as mine has ARI in the same letter configuration (fancy). The fit, finish, and mechanics on this revolver surpass any pietta I have. Could this be some sort of "knock off", or faked Sheriffs model, or am I just not seeing things to clearly here, thinking all HARTFORDS were Uberti made. I think I will call their toll free number this afternoon, and see if I could get an explination, but wanted to ask the gang here first, and maybe get an explination from people who REALLY know their **** about these guns...Thanks

For the most part and as far as I know the EMF line of Hartford Colts are Pietta...always have been.
I think Taylors has both Uberti and Pietta in most all models...
The Cartouche` on the grip is an Inspector's stamp or brand ...

I believe the earlier Hartfords (prior to 2003) were Armi San Marcos. Wasnt til later that they were Piettas. Some IARs were also Armi San Marcos at that time, as were IABs

Hey, appreciate the answers fellers....I guess I was thinkin of another model that was made exclusivey by Uberti...Still cant figure out the cartouche letters though...kinda strange...once again..thanks.

The "Hartford" model was introduced by EMF in 93, made by ASM they are steel frame with German silver backstrap, trigger guard and inspector's cartouche on the grips Discontinued in 2000.
