Pietta 1860 broken hand spring

You can also consider sending the hammer hand to Taylor & Co and the gunsmith is good and will stamp spring in for you. A lot of the senior members here have had a lot of experience with these guns and parts that a lot don't have. Ask why it broke? Is the hand channel rough and hammer slot rough? Also, it takes an experienced one to fit a hammer hand. Maybe hand is too long?? Just brainstorming

I am with Finger's first post

Go to VTI, DGW or someone like that. Buy about three of them so that you can feel a little better about the shipping charges being spread over three items instead of only one.

It's not hard to fit a hand especially if the old one works right. Just clamp them together and file the new one to match the old one. If the old one is too short you file a little and try it until you get it worked down to where it needs to be.
