Pietta 1851 And Uberti/Colt ? Dragoon Part Interchange?

Yes, I know this sounds (at first) like a series of strange questions, but there might be a method to my madness.

I have a new 2014 [CM] Pietta 1851 Navy .36 steel frame revolver. I want to find a squareback brass trigger guard for it. I have a line on one from Taylors & Co. (ordered through the Pietta factory), and the rep said she would call when it comes in, but that's been 3 weeks.

I have asked about this on another BP forum that doesn't have much traffic (unlike TFL) and got a reply about me being "in uncharted waters".

So I'm gonna pick all of your BP brains:

Will a 1st/2nd Model Dragoon trigger guard (as shown): http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_434_435_438&products_id=1150

fit a Pietta Navy 1851 frame (holes aligned, width and length at the frame the same)?

The link says it will fit a Walker and 1st/2nd Model Dragoons, but Walker grips/gripframes were larger than Dragoons:

http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528896 (see post #13)

If the trigger guard screw holes aligned with the 1851 Navy frame but the front strap was longer than the 1851, I'm thinking I could use a Dragoon gripframe and wood grip if the holes at the grip frame align with the 1851 frame.

If that would work, it would fit my hands better than the smallish 1851 grips/grip frame and would be no worse of a mix-and-match than a 1851 Navy .44 brasser with a 5" barrel produced by the Italians.

Feel free to tear this idea to shreds. :D

Dragoon frame is larger than an 1851 frame. BS/TG WILL NOT interchange. Walker BS/TG are specific to the Walker & will not interchange either. 1860 trigger guard is longer than one on an 1851/1861 an will not work with an 1851 back strap.

Thank You!

Just a pipe dream. I know you have light years more experience than I have.

Just keep on keepin' us uninformed folks informed!
