Yes, I shot it yesterday. Have to hold at the bottom of the standard NRA
pistol target to hit the black. Odered a "Shooters" sight this morning which
is .540 tall from S&S. The front sight is a dovetail.

Please excuse me while I wipe the drool from my chin! :D That's one mighty fine looking Remmie! Congrats! :) And thanks for showing us the photos too!!!

A steal!

Wow what a deal! That one looks like it just fell off a Civil War soilders belt!
How do they antique like that?

Well I would like to know what it is. The barrel has 6 grooves and appears
to be a fast twist. Front sight is dove tailed. Chambers are .450 and the
groove dia. of the barrel is .450. The frame is the small frame. The cylinder
pin comes all the way out. About the only marking that was left was the date
code. The first letter I can't tell. Just shows a slanted line, like it might be
a "A" The second letter is quite clear and is a "C" . If this is right it would
put it as a 1977. There is a long serial number on the butt grip on the frame.
Also a three digit number on the bottom of the barrel. They don't match tho.
The trigger is very wide. I would guess it as a Euroarms "Sport" model at this
point. That's only a guess. Come on guys, help me out here. What is it?
This is what I think it might be.

Did you not see my post on The High Road?

Phil - The Euroarms version of the 1858 Remington New Army is really, with one exception, a replica of the first version of that model, the Remington-Beals Army Model. The discriminating feature is the lack of frame relief at the cylinder/barrel interface - note that there are no barrel threads showing in front of the cylinder. This model exhibits the well known Remington New Army tendency to bind up even more than the later 1858 Remington New Army does.

The exception mentioned above is the hammer safety notches on the back of the cylinder - the original Remington-Beals Army Model did not have those notches.

Here's my example, manufactured in 1972:

Adding to that: 6 lands & grooves, 0.448 grooves, 0.443 lands, 0.446 chambers. It also has the wide trigger. The only difference I note is the front sight on my gun is not dovetailed.

I think the dove tail front sight would mean that it has the Lothar Walther
barrel with the 17.7 " twist. Would you check your twist like if a groove
started at say 12:00 at the back of the barrel, where does it end at the
front. 9:00 or 6:00 ?

Will do, but it will be a few days - the gun room is kind of in disarray while we remodel the basement. The drywall work is not on schedule and I don't want any guns out while that dust is floating around.

Ok, suspended the drywall sanding, dug out the Brownie Hawkeye and the Euroarms Remington-Beals and took some photos.

First, I was mistaken, the front sight is dovetailed. It's actually hard to see and was difficult to photograph:

Second, the twist is near 1:32. The line that starts at 12:00 at the breach ends at about 8:30 in 8 inches.

Finally, the trigger:

I have no provenance for this gun; it was a gift from a widow for cataloging and evaluating her husband's collection.

Here are the gun's markings:

The three digit number by the logo on the bottom barrel flat is not the same as the five digit serial number on the bottom of the grip frame. Interestingly, however it is the middle three of those digits rearranged. Maybe on purpose, maybe coincidence.

Put a tight fitting patch on a cleaning rod and let it turn with the rifling for 1/4 turn and multiply X 4.

I don't know and I don't know how to find out. Did you read the last line in
the picture of the new one from their web site?

Mykeal

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like to me we have the same gun. Someone
just de-farbed mine. I would say we have the same barrel also. I really think
mine is the 1-26 twist and not the Lothar Walther barrel. Mine was made in
1977 and I don't think they were putting that barrel on them then. I would
really like to know just when they started doing that. But they are out of
business and no way of knowing. I guess I could E-mail Pedersoli and ask
them if they know. It shoots good. Shot it yesterday using a 454 ball and
18 grs Swiss. 25 yds all shot were in a 10 ring size group. Look out Friendship
Going to put a taller front sight on later this week to get it shooting on.
Thanks again for your help.
Phil
