Pictures of my carry guns, and a little update

Just finally got around to uploading some pictures to my online account so I can link them here

I like the Model 36, just nice and easy and reliable. I found it in my grandmother's house after she passed, unfired at the time

The Hi Power is nice too, but I have found that I like less weight to lug around. A j-frame in the pocket or on the hip should be good enough for summer carrying
The bluing on the Hi Power holds up a lot better than the M 36...interesting

I don't have any more room in the budget for a gun right now; however I'm 21 so I have lots of time for more purchases
The Hi power, I bought for about $800 nib (after $750 for gun, ffl, transfer, etc), have some other pictures on here of it somewhere

A friend gifted me an old H&R 732 (think it is a 732...32 cal snubbie)? but it is out of timing, and needs professional attention before I can consider firing it

Enjoy the pictures, I'll get around to showing you all the holsters they wear...just a little show and tell
I'm looking forward to buying a S&W Model 15 when I can

I would find another gun soon, those are very nice colorful guns, and wouldn't want to carry them.

I agree, I wouldn't carry a Hi Power in that good of condition. That revolver doesn't even look like its been fired either I see no dragline on the cylinder. Just be warned, carry guns get scratched, scuffed, dinged, worn etc over the years regardless of how well you take care of them. That is a nice looking Hi Power though, any idea on the year it was manufactured? Also theres a thread in the revolver section where you can post the serial number for your S&W and you can find out the date it was made.

The Hi Power is made in '09 i think...if the dating method I used is right, in the prefixes of the serial: M=0 N=9 so '09
Its a Mk 3, a cast frame model

The Model 36 is manufactured in either '69 or '70
it is a low numbered (71,xxx) j-prefix, no-dash, just says "M 36" on crane

Thanks for the compliments

Both are very nice, but remember they are tools as well as works of art. You can put them away and look lovingly on them occassionaly or you can put them to work in the roles they were built to fulfill - keeping you safe. :)

I put some thin G10 grips on my BHP and it melts in my hand now…much better fit and thinner for concealed carry.

Both your pieces are beautiful and good carry guns. As mentioned, carry guns get dinged, finished rubbed off or down, scratches, etc. The good news is that you can use them now and get them refinished down the road…it’s only cosmetic. I’ve been packing Glocks when outdoors since my stuff does get scratched, dunked in water, covered in grime and sweat. Guns are tools and meant to be used…if you want to retire them down the road, you can get them refinished and put away for occasional use. Both your current pieces are very capable guns…congrats!
