Pictures of guns

Anyone out there feel the same as I do or is it just me? When people post pictures of their pistols and the stick something in the trigger guard like a marker or shotgun sheel or something similar. To me it just looks dumb and I'm wandering why do you stick something there before taking the picture?

Buck, I am with you. Hopefully someone who is more knowledgeable than both of us will provide an answer...

It is to prop the gun up off of the surface upon which it rests. It lets you get a better view of the top of the gun.

I know you say as a prop but 99% of pictures are guns laying on side with something stuck in trigger, not being propped up. And just for the record, lay gun on side and move camera where you want it, with nothing stuck in trigger. Makes a much better picture- for me anyhow. Ditch the prop.

Can't say I've NEVER seen a photographed gun where something was gratuitously stuck in the triggerguard, but I guess it's possible I have once or twice over the years.

That said, all the ones I can recall seeing that had something stuck in the triggerguard were using that item to prop the gun up so that it wasn't just a picture of the side of the gun.

It`s for lighting & some of the peices in the gards are kinda Kool.

If I was looking to buy a firearm then clear complete pics are mandatory.

My $.02

Took 8 tries to get the warm fuzzy affect in this pic .

You never see trigger guard props used in my photos.

I use my mags to prop it up when taking a pic. I just think it makes it look better. This way I can have a background in my pic. To me it's a second type of cool.
