    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

Picture posting question...

I posted a picture to a thread earlier this week. I then went to post the same picture on another thread and got an error saying that I had already posted that picture to another thread and so could not repost it. Do I have to rename the picture each time it is posted?

Also, what is the protocal for posting the actual picture in the thread rather than just a link? I have Photobucket but not sure how to post the actual picture here.

vbulletin stores hashes of all uploaded images. It will not let you upload a picture with the same hash as one already in its database.

What you want to do is find the attachment you already uploaded and link to it.

You can do that through usercp. At the bottom left of the main usercp page is a link "Attachments" that will show you all the attachments you've uploaded. It has direct links to all those attachments. One of those direct links is what you want to put in between tags.

<img>url</img> except use [] instead of <>

Personally, I think people ought to use temporary image services like photobucket more often. Ask yourself if the image is something people might care about a few months or years from now. If so, then upload it to TFL as an attachment. If not, photobucket is just fine.

Question for Tyme,

Mr. Staff (Tyme),

I also have a pic posting problem. I posted one sometime back, but it was one I had copied off the net, saved to "my pictures" then linked to that. i attempted to use one of my pics from one I had snapped with our digital and I got the error message about file being to big like 744 Kb vs the max allowed size of 244Kb or something like that. How does one downsize a jpeg file to post on the forum.

i realize this is an old thread, but thought it easier than starting a new one. If no reply, then that will be step #2.

Thanks,
Okie out

again rather than add a bunch of related threads I'll ask my question here...

I'm able to attch a file / link to my pic on any particular thread, be see lots of actual images inserted into the threads... are this pics located somewhere else, & the link is not visible, only the image, or is there a way for me to somehow insert a pic into the contents of a thread, that was downloaded off my PC ???

... I'm active on several forums, & even moderate on one very large forum, & I can copy & paste a downloaded image into a thread during editing that post, but that has not worked here ???
