Very very nice gun! forgot how good those long barrled Pythons looked!

But.. ehhh...(approaching subject delicately) errr..., grips???

Since I bought this Python used, I can't really tell you whether the grips was replaced or not.

BUT, I believe Colt shipped some Python with Pachmyer(sp.) grips. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

My first true fighting handgun was a 2" nickle plated Python with stag grips and an IWB gator holster. It was rifle accurate and a baby flame thrower at night with the old .357 Mag loads with their high flash powders.

I took it in on trade for what seems like know a ridiculous sum. It took me thru years of concealed carry long before legal CCW was even a dream here in N.C.

Many of my walks on the wild side were made more comfortable by its presence on my hip. Like so much much lost love I mourn its passing and always have my eye out for its twin.

You have a great looking revolver there.

very nice gun...please replace the grips...perhaps hogue exotic wood?

colt did ship some snakes with rubber grips but i believe they were pachs wearing the colt seal

I've got a 4" nickled Python NIB that came with Pach.service style grips with Colt medallions .S/N Exxxx,1970.Still haven't shot it,too many others to play with.

I got the message in regards to the grips.

Looks like I need to order a new set of wood grips.

I'll look into Hogue first.

Here is my Python along with its smaller brother. Don't say it guys... I have a factory wood grip for the Diamondback.

That sure is a nice 'un bmwguy.
I just can't stand stainless colts.
The blued ones just look better to me.
What's wrong with those grips??

Those are Pachmayr rubber grips. I have a set of my own. Ugly? You bet! Functional? All the way! They do a better job of reducing recoil than wooden stocks, are impervious to the elements, and will give you a good grip even if your hands are wet or cold.

I have a set of Hogue stocks for my Pythons. The wood is nothing to write home about, and I deliberately ordered them uncheckered, since I don't care for the company's checkering. They fit my slightly small hand quite well, and are just wide enough at the top so I can hook my thumb up rather than curling it down.

That's a handsome photograph of a handsome firearm!

Prettier than my beat up Pythons. What a terrific blue job that yours has. Pythons were known for their fine finish and smooth action. They were the "Cadillacs" of their days and still are.

Yahooooo! I picked up my eight-inch Python this morning! I've owned it fifteen months, but since I was living in the People's Republic of California, I couldn't so-called "import" it, and had to leave it with the dealer in Nebraska until I moved from the P.R.C. It's as pretty as yours. The dealer who found it for me specializes in estate firearms. This one's been shot, but not much. I'm guessing it was someone's prized possession, and will be handled the same way by me.

Pythons may be grossly overpriced, and current production models may not be the equal of those made years ago, but they're still the prettiest guns to my eye.

That is absolutely one of the most beautiful bluing on a revolver I've ever seen. I don't know if it was your camera or the lighting but I've never seen that color before. Its like a deep rich black with a purplish tinge to it. Very exotic and dangerous looking. Although I've never seen a real Python snake in that color your gun reminds me of the scales on a King Cobra snake (the other Colt .357 namesake)

Ya done good!
