Gas tube with ventilated metal upper installed from www.sksman.com for $30.00
lower metal forend ventilated from www.globaltrades.com $39.99
I used the spring steel clip from the Romanian wood forend to tighten the front of the lower handguard and I made two clips from stainless steel clips that hold sockets on those nifty stips. Fit perfect and snapped right into place. Lower fore end is rock solid now and lines up perfectly with reciever. Notice step off in original pics, gone now.
As far as the forward pistol grip. hay don't knock it till you've held it. Believe me I tried to put it on the other way and it got in the way of the mag insertion/extraction. The first time i fired it that way (facing forward) I instantly saw why it is ment to be that way. It is perfect to place isometric tension between the rear facing rear grip and the foreward facing foreward grip. This allows you to use the strength in your arms to absorb almost all the recoil and hip firing becomes very controlable. This arrangement was set up on AK's with folding stocks. and when you think about it it makes sense for firing from a folded stock. Firing from the hip or in a sweeping mode it is perfect. ;)

An AMD-63 clone, eh? Never really liked that version myself. I've always been partial to the laminated wood stocks with palm swells on the lower handguard.
