Stripped all old gunk off with Strip-X, and boy was it nasty! Let dry for a few days. 2 scrub coats of boiled linseed oil with 0000 steel wool. Followed up with a hand rub coat. 24 hours or more dry time between each application. Very happy with the result.

I love this rifle!

Thanks for looking,

Nice Land Lease rifle. I Love old military rifles n the smell of linseed oil !!
I got mine at a Dunham Sports Store in 2008 for $150.00 all matchn with spike Bayo. Miss the flood of surplus rifles back then.
I had to get a safety cam for it. Also does not have sights like yours. Only the peep sights. A lot of mods were made to thoes rifles.

While it has been turned into a shiney new looking gun, it makes me sad. The fact the gunk you removed was the salt and sweat of the soldier that carried it. All that crud could have told a story if it could have talked.

I’m sorry but you’ll have to hand it over, since it clearly marked US Property, I’ll be happy to turn it in for you.
I think you did a great job and it looks great. The history is still embedded in the gun, now it just looks better. Good work>

In no way is this a "shiny" new looking gun as far as what I have done to it. Every ding, gouge, and scratch is still in the wood. The metal finish was never touched.

The gun was in amazing shape when I purchased it and the 2-groove bore is in pristine condition and shoots like a dream!
