picked up new barrel today

i ordered a remington 18 in c/b b/s plane jane barrel when i opened the box i noticed the little detent ball when i put it on my gun it fit nice and snug my mag cap has those little holes which snugged up nicely on the little detent ball my old barrel didnt have the detent ball the box it came in says police barrel whats up with that im really happy with this barrel i thought i ordered a 18 in barrel like whats on a remington hd model do the hd models have the detent ball on tha barrel

Barrels for newer Express guns don't have the detent in the barrel ring that goes around the magazine tube, since they use the teeth on the plastic magazine spring detent to keep the magazine cap in place as well. In fact the latest Express barrels don't even have the hole for the spring and detent drilled in the barrel ring any more.
