I love Springfield Armory 1911's. I own the TRP Operator.

I'm sure the one you just bought has had the trigger, grip safety, and hammer changed. Check and see if the grip safety works WITH THE GUN CLEARED AND THE AMMO IN ANOTHER ROOM OR DRAWER.

Check them out but engaging the safety and attempting to dry fire. Then drop the safety, don't press down the grip safety and attempt to dry fire.

If it's all good than you should be fine.

I usually search the living daylights out of every nook and cranny when it comes to a 1911 purchase. Too many Bubba's out there.

That's a nice find, coolbreezy. My old GI made in Brazil is still pretty tight & shoots great...

Good gun, there is nothing wrong with a springfield 1911. I like mine.

That looks like an older "Loaded" model to me. Probably made between '93 and '02 sometime, based on the squared off dust cover and grip frame. Should be a good pistol and the price makes the deal even sweeter...congrats.

I bought the same gun that you have. I sent it to my gunsmith for some work. I changed out the beaver tail, the trigger, hammer, and put in a two piece guide rod. The trigger is set at 4 lbs. and the gun is definitely a winner. He also did some things like tweak the fitment so the gun is very tight and accurate.

SA makes a great 1911... Had a Mil-Spec, it was a flawless shoot.
Plus, if ever needed, SA Customer Service is A+ and one of the best in the industry!

Yes, it does. And that's about what I paid for my brother's Springfield Loaded model 1911 in (I think) 1999.

Coolbreezy -- does that have a two piece full length guide rod, by any chance?

Looks like a good deal for the money. I picked up this barely used Springfield GI Mil-Spec a couple of months ago for $425 at a local shop.

I have a mil-spec, it's the only 1911 I have but it's all I really need. I don't need extended anything, or Kryptonite laser on it. I just wanted a simple reliable 1911, and so far it's been that.

WC145< I don't want to burst your bubble but thats is a GI model. The Mil-Spec model has a lowered and flared ejection port as well as different sights. The 2 are different guns, GI and Mil-Spec

I bought a stainless Springfield Milspec in 1993, and it is still going strong. They make a good 1911. Congrats, that's a great deal!

You're not bursting my bubble, it's a GI Mil-Spec, the way they made them before they broke the Mil-Spec off into it's own model with better sights, flared ejection port, etc.. Mine came of the line 11-11-2004, Veteran's Day, I verified that with Springfield customer service.
