Picked Up a Para Ord LDa 18.9 LTD

I had already bought the LDA 7.45 and was so happy with the trigger set up that I also bought the 18.9. The trigger is even better than the 7.45. Previously, I was never a Para Ord fan, but these LDAs changed my mind

I hear that they have discontinued sales of this model in the civilian market, so if you can find one, get it. Even if you have to sell one of the hunting dogs.

I still love my Glocks, but these LDAs let me keep my 1911 love affair going in a new direction.

LDA is a love-it-or-hate it thing. I love mine. Hold on to that 9mm gun as it is going to get valuable (especially if you've got high-cap mags with it).

As I understand it, high caps were never available for the 18-9 to non-LEOs. I have been looking to find one so I could try pre-ban 16-40 mags in one. It seems that all Para wide body mags have the same fit. The 40 and 45 mags will fit the other gun but of course won't feed. The 40 mag will hold the 9 mm round and looking at it and a 10rd 9 mm mag they seem the same. Since Para doesn't mark the caliber on the mag, using a 40 in a 9 SHOULD BE legal. You wouldn't happen to know anyone with the 40 so you could give it a try? I'd be willing to order/find a 18-9 if I knew that the 40 mag would work. FWIW the 10rd 40 mag will hold 13 9 mm.

I believe the civilian market version of the 18.9 was only available with 10-rounders, and no coupon for hi-caps. As I understand it, the model, while in production before the ban, actually hit the market post-ban and that why no hi-caps.

Since most of my shooting stages are limited to 10-round mags (IDPA, etc.) I don't really miss the hi-caps. The ones I have for the older Glocks are left in the safe with my savings bonds<GG>.

As an old LEO, I came up under the doctrine that "if your first two rounds don't do it, the only difference between hi-caps and regular mags is the number of rounds left in the mag when they find your body."
