Asmodeous,

If you find one of the Lew Horton 3" .41 Mag 657's I'd be interested.
I keep kicking myself for not buying one in the mid-80's when they were made, but I was out of work and couldn't afford the [gasp] $285.95 price in Shotgun news at the time.

I'm jealous of that beautiful 624! I love big bore snubbies too and it has the "classic" S&W underlug design too. :D

Asmodeous,

Nice looking revolvers!

What specific Pachmayr grips do you have on your 625? I couldn't find gripper grips for an "N" frame anywhere. Are they decelerators? If so, is the rubber so tacky that your cover garment hangs up on it or is is similar to "harder" Pachmayrs?

Thanks,

Joe A.

Gotta love those 3" N Frames. The 625-3 is my favorite revolver followed closely by my 657 and 610. .

A local gunshop has one of the Lew Horton 3" 657's for $400. It's been there quite a while for a couple of reasons, primarily because it's not the sort of thing they usually sell and it's not in very good shape. I've considered it a couple of times, but it would need to be refinished, have the end shake fixed, and the timing adjusted, so I wouldn't go more than ~ $250 for it. If it's there long enough, they might take that offer :)

I'm 99% certain that these grips shipped with the 625-3 originally. The SCSW pictures a 3" 625 with the same grips. I don't carry (or plan to carry) this 625. When I want to carry a 45 ACP wheelgun I carry my 325 PD (often as a backup gun) or my custom 625-3 in 45 LC/45 ACP (my summertime fanny pack gun). I don't have rubber grips on any of my carry guns.

Nice guns! I don't have a single N under 4"...in fact, I now have two 8 3/8" units! Great range guns, not so easy to carry.

I'm keeping my eyes open!

Thanks for giving me hope that someone sold one of those snubby .41's! But given your description, I'd say $250 was about right. It would have to be torn down and rebuilt. Sad. I think a lot of those guns might be in safes somewhere instead of being worn with a CHL.

I'll keep lookin'!
