Picing up brass with ammo broom

I've seen it at the range I go to and it seems to work. I always just use the broom and dust pan provided. I imagine that device would have a hard time getting near walls and corners were brass tends to congregate.

You realize that by using one of those devices, you will be passing up a chance for some much needed exercise, don't you?
All that bending, squatting and duck walking goes a long way to lessen the need for an expensive gym membership.

It depends a lot on what kind of a surface the brass is laying on.

If your ground is flat the bag a nut is much faster than the nut wizard and less work.

It will leave behind brass that is in "lower ground" that the nut wizard can pick up but it will still leave them behind in cracks. Another nice thing is that the bag a nut picks up everything in its path and you can be a bit more picky with the NW and leave behind aluminum and steel cases.

My largest single haul of range pick up was with a device I built (2 hrs and 3/4 tank of gas for 12 gallons of brass), basically a leaf vacuum with a manifold that drops brass in the buckets and lets dirt and other debris flow on through. It is also the only successful method I have used in gravel.

I have the nut wizard. It works best on flat surfaces, not well on ground with grass, and probably not at all on gravel. The cage wires are prone to spreading if you aren't careful with storing it or when removing cases from it. If it spreads enough, which doesn't take much to do, it will start dropping 9mm cases and cases of similar size. When that happens it works better if you tilt it to keep the cases near one end. It does not have this problem with .45s and rarely with .40s.

I ordered the Midway one JG thanks for the tip on the nut gatherer I was thinking of that one too. I do lay a tarp in a spot that I shoot most of the time. At my club the lane I use most is 100 ft wide by 200 ft deep so that is why I was looking for a easier way to pick up brass if I move around. Thank you all for your replies.
