As i'm sure many of you have seen me post a million times about getting a 686, the time has ALMOST come(2weeks! :D )

as comfortable as the factory hogue rubber grips are, id like to put a set of wood grips to really compliment the stainless steel, something nice with a warm tone. im trying to decide between the coco bolos and the pau ferro grips. looking at the two next to each other, the grain looks richer in the coco.

coco bolo $85 from hogue's page

pau ferro $75 from hogue's page

post up what youve got, i wanna get some good ideas!

A Thought

I would suggest looking at the particular grips before buying which perhaps you are going to do. I have bought through the mail and many have had the grain characteristics match what one finds in pictures. However, I have also gotten some that were blah both in Coco Bolo and Pau Ferro. Hogue has factory seconds offered at:

where there is a picture posted to you can see what you get and you might save some money.

Dammit Bullrock, I think you just cost me a C-note (and made one for Eagle) with all thos pics of the Heritage models. ;) I've got an old nickel 29-2 that is just begging for some dark wood stocks, and Ol' Sarge ain't paying no $250 for S&W smooth targets.

It shipped with the wood grips installed and Hogue grips in the box... I've never actually shot it with the wood grips installed.
