I recently bought two synthetic stocks from Fred's. Boy, am I having a good time making them pretty! They started out as the original ugly brown beat-up standard stock, and the first one's almost done. I think it'll blend in well with local vegetation. The second will be "city camo" just for fun. I'm going to buy more, for sure,as they're only $9 and fit my rifle really well. I'll make one for winter, and maybe even a spring one. I may also make a few with designs (red, white and blue--maybe some crazy designs...who knows!) If you want to dress up a stock, these are certainly good ones to work on...and if you're going to work on wood eventually, these would make good practice pieces.
No pics yet, but I'll have some soon.
