Anyone have info on the Gale McMillon invention? I'd really like to find the gun or at least the slide to buy, I hear it's really rare and can't even find any pictures. Thanks all, Roy
It's a heavy slide similiar to the new Elite/Brigider only with a closed top and large ejection port. It'll have a stamped Dolphin etc.
They were tested to 77,000 rounds, Phrobus was a "spook" company some years back. There's one page listed on Google FYI
Ok I was just setteling in to bed a decided to flip through "Shotgun News" Dec 10 edition and on pgs.64-65 theres an ad for a co "David Buehn" www.davidbuehn.com And they list having a Beretta/Phrobis M9 "US Navy" marked Navy Seal Team pistol. Says in the ad it may be one of only 25 produced and it aint cheap at $4750.00 if they still have it that is. But if you seriously want one..... I remember seeing it in a magazine (can't remember how long ago) a while back if I find it I'll post and let you know.
I'd be very leery of buying anything out of Huntington Beach. A lot of those .45s you see listed are counterfeits. A big danger in being a new buyer of collectible weapons is getting screwed by someone who knows how to modify a plain-jane and make it look like something valuable.
I emailed David yesterday, no response yet. I've had a couple people mention he wasn't the best to deal with?
Anyway, FYI the Phrobus was spelled Phrobis at a later date when made by a different company and then a third company was Dolphin. All three were in addition to the original built by Rock McMillon
Thanks for the comments, I've had couple of the same sort of bad feedback also. WestCo used to be my back yard, still have family there of course. I've been in contact with several of the principles in the Navy contract today so I should be able to get assistance verifying the gun.
All the companies involved were "spook' and Beretta disclaims all knowlege.
