Photos of Ruger GP100 s with Jordan Troopers?

Does anyone have photos of their GP100 with Jordan Trooper stocks from Herrett's? If so, please post them.

Bonus points if you have "boot cut" Troopers on your gun in the photo.

Hi, may I ask why you want to see pictures of Ruger GP-100s with Jordan Trooper grips on them? First time I've heard of them, I visited the page and in the ordering instructions they said to "send butt tracing to verify round or square butt models". I think most people who would be ordering those grips would be knowledgeable enough to tell apart round or squared grip frames. Seems sort of extraneous to me. They also ask for the serial number of your gun. No thanks on that one. JMHO.

Herrett's makes well fitting stocks (as they call them), and if they ask you to trace your gun, do it. It MAY be unnecessary to you, or unnecessary altogether, but they put out a great product, give good customer service, and don't ask TOO much of the buyer. On some gun, even MANY guns, it IS necessary to closely define which frame shape, model, or even time of production to get the grips right.

The GP100 and Super Redhawk use a rebated grip frame that is surrounded by the grip. I expect Herrett's can handle their end of things w/o a tracing of it.

I've never seen a set of Troopers on either gun but you can contact Herretts at rjherrett@msn.com to inquire if they'll make you a set. I'd be interested to hear their reply, if you'd be so kind as to share it.

1) Google images does not show anything.
2) I am considering getting a set and I'll have to send the gun in.

I can't imagine why on earth you would have to send a standard production model of a firearm in to a stock maker. As for the serial number, maybe a serial number range if there's a factory change in the tang involved but they don't need the whole number. I'd be on the phone to Herrett's and talk to a real person.

The government already has the make, model, and SN because I bought it from a gun store. I am not worried about what Herrett's may do with the information. What I am interested in is how the gun looks with Jordan Troopers.

Why? How about so they fit correctly? If you're o.k. with a "good enough" fit, buy off the rack. If you want a perfect fit, you'll need to have them fitted to the gun.

So you're saying Harrett's doesn't have access to a GP-100, nor have they ever built stocks for that model Ruger? Sorry, don't buy it. Harrett's builds stocks for most all standard models and the Ruger GP-100 certainly qualifies. It is far from rare or unique.

Dave,

They probably made some off a stock gun and customers had problems with fit due to frame variations. Otherwise, they would have to leave some material on the stock and expect the customer do the final fitting.

The grip mounting stud IS fairly unique. Other than the Super Redhawk, Sp-101(both of which come with fairly forgiving rubber grips from the factory) and some Dan Wesson's I can't think of anything like that.

There's probably enough variation from gun to gun to cause issues, otherwise I'm sure they'd offer them without sending in the gun.

Have you ever tried to swap grips on a Colt SAA or clone? Those vary WIDELY from gun to gun. A VERY popular gun that you can't just buy grips for , and expect them to fit. It's just a given with them that you're either going to have to buy them oversize and fit them yourself or have them proffesionally fitted.... OR you can roll the dice and hope they fit. Maybe they do... maybe they don't.

Now wait a minute, guys. I hear constantly about how accurate and consistent Ruger's investment casting is and how it's superior to forging…and no, that argument doesn't come from S&W owners but from Ruger fans. Anyway, are you telling me there is so much variation that Herritt's can't make a stock to fit the bloody stud?

They make or have made stocks that fit most every other standard model from S&W and Colt and at one time (back in the 70's) I bought a set of Herritt's for a Ruger Security Six and that model hadn't been out all that long. Sorry, this dog ain't even gittin' out of the kennel, let alone hunting.

What if they changed the stud slightly across different versions?

OK, you win. Pack your gun up and pay UPS or FedEx $60-$75 to ship it to Idaho. Oh and don't forget to pay the same shipping for Herrett's to return it with your perfectly fitting stocks.

Maybe this is why I shoot S&Ws with Hogues!

I'm sure the request for a tracing is meant for the single action guns that all seem to have slight differences in them. They just use the same procedure for all arms for simplicity. The Ruger grip stud for the SRH and GP are universal and consistant. There is no need to trace or ship a gun for fit.

All nonsense about fitting and costs aside, did the OP ever get Herrett's for his GP? Or even find a picture? I'm not having any luck finding a picture of a GP with any of Herrett's offerings.
