Hello!
I'm brand new here, my first post.
I thought it might be fun to get a thread going showing
off custom 1911's!!
Here are a couple to get it started:

Type of saftey?

That looks like it has been custom made or modified. You can get one that looks allot like it from Brownell's. It is called the Gunsite saftey and they are nice. I have them on all my 1911's.

OK...I'll play. But my kitchen table masterpiece will look like an old sow's ear among pistolwrench's silk purses...

Mikey, Don't sell yours short. You know what the say - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to love the way your gun looks.

Vincent, Intel6,
The thumb safety is indeed custom. I fabricate
them using a stock safety as a base.
Yes Gunsite does (or did) offer a similar unit.
Although I have not verified the info,
I have heard that the Gunsite units are no
longer being manufactured.
The main 'downside' to a dropped safety of this type, is
the inadvertent application of the safety when
shooting left-hand.
I have made a number of ambi units with a dropped LH
side and a conventional RH side to alleviate
this problem.

My turn...

Caspian Officer's ACP, Kart NM ramped barrel, tapered cone lockup w/flange. All work, including checkering and dehorning, by Richard "Dirty Dick" Bancroft, including his own sights, based on the Novaks. It's carried almost daily, hence the worn parkerizing on some of the edges.
