i was reluctant to ask at first, but then i saw the thread below about hi-point guns,so.. ;)
any hoo- the tulsa arms show is coming up,and i doubt very much that im going to have enough for a ruger auto, which was what i was aiming at.
ive thought about police trade ins,and havent decided against em,i just want to check out my options first.
ill have 150 if im lucky to spend, and i have heard a mix of good and bad things about this little gun.
a buddy of mine had one,and he liked it. his only complaint was that it is LOUD for a .22
it will just be a fun gun mostly. plinking, etc., until i can scrape up some more for something better. (college student, need i say more?)

for a fun-gun, is it worth it?
any experiences are welcome, and much appreciated,as are critiques of the gun,as well as my wardrobe.

thanks,
maurice

BTW- do the folks at gun shows have a problem with bringing a gun with you to trade or sell?

I have a buddy that owns one of these and he really likes it. I have seen it, but never fired it. Looks like a decent enough gun.

I know a few people who have them, and I have tossed a few rounds down range with an HP22 rangemaster. I found it to be heavy (24 oz I think, same as a Makarov) for a pocket pistol, but it was accurate and reliable and fun too. There was also a write up about it in a gun rag a year or two back, they recommended it as a value plinker.

As far as I know, as long as you use lower velocity ammo there shouldn't be any real problems with that gun.
High velocity .22 ammo has been known to crack the slides on occasion.

I had a HP-22 for a while. What I didn't like about it was: The slide does not lock back after the last round (by design) and it has too many safety features. Big issue was the slide lockback. Didn't like counting rounds and don't like guessing. QUADCAB

I have one, and although it has been to the shop a couple of times for repair, (their service is great) I like mine for a plinker. I usually shoot stingers in it and it seldom fails. I think they are a pretty attractive gun for being so inexpensive.

mine has functioned flawlesly. Which is more than I can say for
the Taurus PT-22 (or S&W 411 or Glock 23 or Glock 27) that I
owned.

I take mine on every fishing trip. Seems to like everything but Winchester ammo. My only real complaint is that the gun is more accurate than the sights are good for, especially with the 5 inch barrel (you gota have one of those). Supposedly someone was making a laser for them, but I haven't seen it yet. Not sure about Tulsa, but the OKC gunshows have no problem with trading, that's half the fun.
