Notice of Gun-Rights Meeting and .50 BMG Maadi-Griffin Legal Defense Fund Raffle.
On Wednesday September 20, 2000 at 7pm in the Tempe-area Country Harvest Buffet Alan Korwin of www.gunlaws.com, Angel Shamaya of www.keepandbeararms.com, Rick DeStephens, Vice President of www.brassroots.org, and Tim Weaver also of Brassroots.org will be holding a meeting of gun rights activists. Representatives and members of many Phoenix-area and national groups are planning to attend. These include Arizona Rifle and Pistol Association, Second Amendment Sisters, Tyranny Repsonse Team, S.A.F.E, JPFO, NRA, Deer Tribe Gun Club, Gun Owners Action League, Grassroots of North Carolina, and others.
The purpose of the meeting is to bring together Arizona's gun rights groups into a loose coalition which we hope will be beneficial to each activist group. Think of it as a pro-freedom Articles of Confederation where no group loses it autonomy but instead may be able to use the resources and man-power of other groups in its activism.
This meeting, which has been playfully dubbed, "TUG" or "The Unorganized Group," serves no other purpose than to satisfy the needs of real, shoe-leather activists. TUG has no leaders, no 501(C)(3) status, no board of directors, no veto power. What it does is supply a forum for activist groups to present a plan of activism to those who showed up ready and willing to fight for freedom. A leader of an individual group, say, The Second Amendment Foundation or Gun Owners of America will stand up and have five minutes to talk about his plan of action. The presentation will hopefully have been well-thought out by the presenting group, complete with simple hand outs and sign-up sheet. Essentially what will be discussed is what the group is and what it needs from you for its project to succeed. If the presenter's plan tickles your activist soul then you can sign up after the meeting and talk over the details and swap contact information. If it doesn't suit your style or your politics you can wait for a presentation which does….or you can present your own. It doesn't have to be about guns, but probably will be for the first few meetings.
Does this sound like something which Phoenix needs to protect your rights? Does this sound like something for which you could invest some time? Here is where you need to be on September 20th…
7720 S. Priest Dr., Tempe, AZ SW corner of Elliot and Priest, private meeting room holds 125, unlimited buffet, under $10 incl. tax and tip, separate checks. Come early to ensure yourself a seat 480-496-6490.
