I'd like to get some comments on the Phoenix .22 semi-auto....Is it any good?? Is it worth looking into as something to play with??? I was quoted $130 for a NEW one ...???? ANY comments would be appreciated. Thanks. concealer

I got a new Phoenix HP-22 at a gun show about three years ago for $89.00. I just wanted an inexpensive .22 for plinking and I liked the looks of the little HP-22. I was pleasantly surprised. The accuracy is pretty good and it's never had a malfunction. I keep it loaded with Stingers. All the "safety" features are a little annoying, but I do like it.

Mendacity is the system we live in.

I bought a new one at a gun show 25cal for 75.00. so the price you got seems preaty high! Look around!!.

Price sounds a bit high like the others said, but many people knock Phoenix- I have a 25 Raven and a friend has a .22, they are not bad guns for what they cost. My Raven "never" jams.

I looked at it ($125 here) and passed it up in favor of a Browning Buckmark at $210 or so. "Safeties" seemed acessive and the overall feel wasn't very solid. I might well work, just didn't inspire much confidence.

I was thinking of one about a year ago but went into a Ruger instead. The nice thing about the Phoenix is that you can get different length barrels to bolt on.

Is it just me or does the Beretta's seem to jam a lot? Ruger357, I have no exp with the phoenix but my Beretta 21 has been unreliable. I clean it after every session and have tried 8 different brands of ammo(good thing my other .22's ate them up). In my area the Beretta 21/950 is on average twice as expensive as the phoenix. How about the Taurus?

Gun tests really poo-pooed on the Phoenix HP22. Perhaps a better investment would be a Ruger Mk II. I have seen used ones in good shooting shape for less than $200.

Jetrecbn, the 950 is amore reliable gun than the 21a due to it is single action. I have a .25 950 and put around 500 rounds through it with no problems. You can get a good used one for about $125. Bought mine used and love it. New around $160.

I saw it advertised in a magazine so i went to take a look at it. I picked it up and it had some f&*$ing lock going through the grip. So i got that out and took a look. This gun has more safety features than anyone will ever need or want. the dealer (who i know is knowledgeable with guns) had one hell of a time trying to demonstrate it. I pulled the slide back and it felt loose and sloppy and not very well made at all. it comes with a case and targets and a bunch of other things that would normally make it a nice packhage. it seems like the manufacturer tried to make it an attractive package without keeping quality in mind.

tommy boy said it best when saying....

"I can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, that dont make it a good product"

Just my opinion. Go with the ruger. you wont be sorry.
