Phesant Hunting in SD

I'll be going the 2nd and 3rd week in November. I'll be hunting private and public land around Miller. This year I'll be using an 870 with 2 3/4" # 4 shot, Mod Choke. I'll be walking, blocking and road hunting. Last year I had a chance to get my limit everytime we went out. I got a lot of shooting but I only hit 10% of what I shot at. I found out it was my new glasses that were hozing me over (Those new type BiFocals suck for shotgunning). Sheesh, needless to say that little problem has been fixed.

If you would like a guided hunt on private land, with dogs, call Stan Wellner at 605-245-2230.

I grew up just east of Miller, in Spink county, and you should have more good shooting this year. I was back in SD over the 4th of July and saw several/heard several birds.

You might want to throw some duece in your gun as well. With the ever blowing wind and after a month of hunting, you may get some long shots.

Hope the glasses make a differenc for you this year!

Wow.. small world. Do you know any of the Peterman's?. Charley Peterman has some phesant hunting fields near the hand county, spink county border. I was back in Miller for the 4'th also. Class reunion and PDog hunting.

I always felt that the redfield / miller area has the best phesant hunting in the world. I remember when the bag limit was 14. (sheesh.. 1962, 63, 64???) we would go out in the morning, shoot 14, go out in the afternoon and shoot 14 and road hunt in the evening and shoot 14. I remember someone finally explaining to us that 14 was the "daily" bag limit. We were bummed. That was a long time ago. The bag limit now is three.
