Pheonix Arms HP22

Just got a neat little 22lr yesterday. It is a Pheonix Arms, It came with a short barrel amd a long "target" barrel and 2 mags. I have not gotten to shoot it yet. I couldn't pass up the price. Has anyone had any experience, bad or good withone of these? It certainly isn't a competition gun, but it seems to be pretty well built. everything fits well, not sloppy or over tight. I plan to shoot it today so will post on function later.
Appreciate any comments.

I've had one for a couple of years. I had originally had some problems with the hammer not locking back in cocked position, but the factory fixed it up just fine. It's worked just about perfectly ever since. A pretty good deal for the price.

I bought an HP-22 in 1995. It was my very first gun. I believe it to be an early model. I had some minor problems with it, but the factory made them right in short order. The main trouble I had was the hammer block safety on the slide kept creeping down to "safe". I have run hundreds of rounds through mine, and if your experience is the same as mine, you just bought a great little gun for your money.
I also have an extended barrel and a bunch of magazines. Really happy with mine. In fact, some of my co-workers liked mine so well, they bought them ,too

I just helped to trouble-shoot one. Poor quality magazines made that one double-feed all the time...and the extractor did not catch the rims at all. The safety that disables the mag release is just too weird for me, too...I'd say that better options exist.

I read some gun rag the other day where Massad picked the top pistol values available today, and the phoenix was his .22 pick. He says it's very good, but the multiple safeties are a bit cumbersome.

For the best value, I would have gone with a Ruger 22/45 or a SW 617 revolver.

Phoenix Arms' pricing policy makes it too attractive for gangbangers to pick up their products. I haven't seen one at the ranges in years. What does that tell you?

well I tried it out at the range and was rather impressed but will have to say that the multiple safties are a pain. I also don't like the fact that the slide doesn't lock back after the last shot. I do however like the 2 barrels. It is nice to have a change of pace.
I am pleased with its operation, as I only had two jams and that is probably due to the rough feed ramps. It is rather quite accurate so I have to say well worth the dough.

Glad you like the HP-22 so far. Ditto on the safeties.

I don't know a lot about Phoenix Arms' products, but IF they make a decent quality handgun and sell it at a low price, I certainly am not going to criticize them for it. I doubt that gang bangers are all that price-sensitive anyway, but even if they are, I don't want gun makers raising prices in hopes of keeping criminals from buying their products. That sounds like the logic of the anti-gun folks - only they generally seek to implement it by adding additional taxes, fees, and other requirements to make purchasing guns difficult and expensive.
