The number of signatures is coming up on 6500 today. Not exactly the number I was hoping for, but I guess it's okay. Because my business is going to be going through some major changes in the next few weeks, I'm going to be very busy. So, again, if anyone has any ideas on how to reach a wider audience of gun owners, please let me know.
Okay, this was a pet project of my own, and I had hoped for more signatures. Today there's 6600+. Maybe it's not the greatest vehicle to deliver a message with. It may be, though, an example of just apathetic gun owners are. How so? Go to http://www.petitiononline.com and look at the most active petition. It's for "Save our napster," the site/service that let's you download music for free. It's only been up a couple of days, and there's almost 70,000 signatures! They're getting over a thousand signatures an hour.
denfoote, thanks. I have no doubt that every member of TFL's Legal/Politcal forum who agrees with the petition signed it. My frustration is with gun owners in general. I would guess that I emailed at least 1,000 gun owners. Yet, within a few days, a bunch of kids who want to get free copies of Britney Spears latest whatever managed to get 70,000 signatures. I think that speaks volumes about gun owner apathy, and it explains the sense of frustration I see from so many members here on TFL. If anything is to be "mandatory," I think it should be mandatory that anyone who wants to own a gun must first read the posts on this forum for a month.
