Personal Negative Experiences with Glock 30?

Anyone have anything bad to say about this pistol? I'd overlooked it for a long time but it looks like an ideal CCW piece. Very concealable, 10 rounds of 45ACP, not too small.

My CZ-75B Compact might have a cousin if I can't find a reason not to get this one. I don't ordinarily like Glocks, but I find myself drawn to this pistol in spite of that.

I have a Glock 30, and It's amazingly accurate for a smaller gun. Oops, you were looking for negative comments. :) Well, I'll have to admit, it didn't cycle my light 200gr target loads all that well, but I didn't really expect it to. Is that negative enough? :D

The only bad thing I found about the Glock 30 is that I do not own one yet.

Actually, my beef is that the flush mags hold 9 and the non-flush hold ten - sometimes. I have had a hard time getting all ten rounds in the mag.

Otherwise, I really like the gun and will likely buy one eventually.

It was my first Glock. But I found that for reloading purposes, it was too finnikcy. No SWCs. No light target loads.

It is accurate and a contingent of Glock shooter swear its the most accurate Glock.

But I also have a Glock 21 that I swear shoots circles around my old G30's targets. At 25 and 50 yards, I'll take the longer sight radius and the longer barrel for higher velocity to hit my 2-3 inch groups.

For me, the G30 was too thick and chunky for me to comfortably CCW compared to a G19/G26 sized frame.

Sold it for a G26.

After about 200 rounds, the recoil spring/rod assembly broke.

I bought an all metal replacement from Glockmeister.com, and that fixed the problem.

I have had a hard time getting all ten rounds in the mag.
I solved this problem by putting 10 rounds in them, and letting the set in the safe for a few months. They're still pretty stiff, but I can get 10 rounds in without struggling.

Bites the Hand...

People with smaller and chubbier hands have been known to get flesh caught between the magazine and the grip. I don't have the afore mentioned hands and I think very highly of my Glock 30. Regards, Richard

As previously stated, most G30 will not feed SWCs of any persuasion, even the legendary H&G 68. I have a friend (not some guy I know, a student of mine and shooting buddy) who regularly carries a G30. His gun will not feed or function reliably with Blazer ammo (aluminum case). He does not reload and finds this very annoying as Blazer is sometime the cheepest "factory" ammo available.

It seemed like nothing I could do would get nine rounds into the nine-round G30 mags or ten rounds into the ten-round G30 mags. So I shipped them to Smyrna and let Glock hassle with them. They're okay now.

Apart from that, the G30 is one of my fav pistols. I have a slight preference for the G29, though. :)

I found myself too timid to try this fix at first, but so many people at the Glock Talk forum recommended it, I decided to give it a try.

With either a flat file or a Dremmel, shorten the magazine follower legs a bit. I have enjoyed instant success and the magazines continue to function flawlessly. I will continue to utilize this fix whenever I experience this type of problem. Struggling with trying to insert the 9th or 10th round and then having to let the magazines sit for months at a time is preposterous, IMHO.

About the only thing I really don't like about the 30, and the 29 for that matter, is that they weren't made long enough for a light rail. They are about the same size as a 19, though wider, making for a fairly user-friendly carry gun.

A buddy have a G30 which I sometimes shoot and I can't think of anything negative about it. I must admit I shoot more acurately with this gun as I could with my G19. I have to hit myself in the head for not buying it since it was offered to me first.

Only negative thing about the Glock 30, is the higher cost of the ammo, compared to my 17,19,and 34. Wish I was in a position to reload, but it's out of the question for me..
