I've purchased about 5 different ammunition orders from them over the last
month and am very satisifed.

Snubnose 38's can have pretty good recoil for a small woman. My wife likes the Full Wadcutter factory loads. Mild but will get the job done, should it ever arise.

Looked on the barrel of her revolver and it is NOT stamped +P. Is it OK to shoot +Ps occasionally (probably only time being if she had to actually use it for defense) or do I need to stick with non- +P? If I need to stick with the mild stuff what would be the best to use?

What kind of revolver is it? Some are stronger than others and can withstand limited doses of +P, and others it is not recommended at all.

Not a good idea to exceed manufacturer's recomendations. Winchester makes some good standard loads that will work w/o +P. If you can find some non+p Silvertip HP, I know for sure they open quick.

Hornady Critical Defense - Take a look at some of the reviews and test results available online. I haven't seen anything to indicate this new load doesn't do exactly what Hornady says it will do. Expansion of the 155gr 9mm is excellent.

Yes the type of 38 snubnose does matter. I have a Colt Det. Special that works good with heavier loads, but also have a S&W M38 Bodyguard that is a dream to carry but can be a hand full to shoot, being a steel barrel & cylinder but Aluminum Frame. Be careful using +P loads. I use them in my M19 Snub .357.

I like the Speer GDHP for short barrels. I haven't used the Hornady Critical Defense in my J-frame but it my hands down favorite for my LCP. Cor-Bon ammo is good but everything I've ever shot from them kicks like a mule and has alot of muzzle flash.

another vote for the - 38 Special Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135gr. +P Ammo

it was developed for NYPD, and is their current load for the S&W "NY1" j frame 2" inchers used by them.
