Permit to carry concealed non-lethal weapon?

Are there any options available to civilians to carry non-lethal weapons, such as an ASP (I know some people consider those lethal) in a concealed manner? It seems kind of silly to me that I can get a concealed handgun permit but still couldn't carry a baton.

I'm not an attorney - see one.

In Penal Code Chapter 46.01 Definitions.
"(1) "Club" mean an instrument that is specially designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with the instrument, and includes but is not limited to the following:
(A) blackjack; (B) nightstick; (C) mace; (D) tomahawk."

By mace, I believe they mean the old ball and chain - not the pepper spray.

"Penal Code 46.02 Unlawful carrying weapons.
(a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his perosn a handgun, illegal knife, or club."

It is my understanding that our TX CHL let's us carry a handgun but NOT other prohibited weapons.

Again, I'm not an attorney - this is a layman's opinion.
 
In NC, our permits are CHL, not CCW. (Concealed handgun vs. Concealed weapon).
I'm not sure, but I believe some states(FL maybe) permit carrying other weapons.
 
Yes, it really is kind of odd, isn't it?

I took the folding bayonet off of the SKS that I keep as a car gun not out of political correctness (THAT would be why I put the bayonet on! ;) ), but rather because I could see some feather-legged attempt to construe the rifle with a bayonet on it as a "spear" or "sword". Amusingly, here in TX, there is absolutely no provision against unlicensed cary of legal longarms, but there is a provision against "clubs" (see above.).
Makes you wonder what would happen if you used your rifle to buttstroke? :)
 
I have been told by a friend that here in Georgia a civilian may carry an ASP if he goes through the ASP certification process.
Supposedly this is an official ruling by the Georgia Attorney General. My friend has obtained the certification. Personally, if I decide to follow this path, I will obtain a copy of the AG's ruling on official letterhead.
 
In Tennessee a civilian can carry a baton/ pepper spray if they get certification. Now if we could just get the same thing for blades it would be a complete world.
