Pepper Spray

Hello All

I join a little bit ago but mostly read the day away at work. I will have to say that this site is a great source of knowledge.

On to my question. Where does everyone buy their pepper spray from? What do you look for when you are buy it? The main use for it would be when I work my second job which is valeting. Sometimes the parking lots we park cars in are not in the best places, but are the only ones that we have available to us to use.

Thank you in advance for you replies.

I purchased my pepper spray from my local indoor range/shop. I cant remember the name of it right now, but its one of those cool looking anodized aluminum bodied ones. its only 4 1/2 inches long, less than 3/4 inch diameter and goes right on my key ring. Flip the plastic safety to the side, depress the brass lug on the rear, and back up. I believe it was only 15 bucks. And the cartridge inside is replaceable.

I use bear spray. It should be available in most sporting goods stores.
The reasons I prefer bear spray are: 1. 20 to 30 feet range and
2. much more volume. It works fine on attacking dogs, also. The
downside is that the container is larger and it might not be legal in
your location. It is very much legal where I live.:D

well you can buy bear spray at rei by my place, but is it legal to use on humans? it says on the can not to. but is it illegal? i think its the exact same formula as human repelant, just in a much bigger dose

FOX is the worst of the worst. It is what we use at the correctional facility I work at. I would be wary and possibly try it out on yourself. It is very strong and chances are if you use it in close quarters you too will be exposed (happens all too often). It will give you an idea if you could take a second hand exposure it may be too strong for yourself in a defensive situation.

It will even reactivate and burn during your next shower.

Remember pepper spray is the gift that keeps on giving.:D

Now if you can afford to get one tazers are the way to go. Instant incapacitation. The subject has no control but to give up. With pepper spray there is still a moment after spraying someone till the full effect is felt which can result if a final fury of a charge even after a full dose to the face.

You can't.:D

This is if you buy direct you could probably find them cheaper else where.

They command a shocking price for sure. As much as a quality handgun but you get a much better less lethal tool over the OC.

These are just less lethal tools though and my post are just about the effectiveness of them. IMO some form of unarmed training and a handgun/knife are the bare essensials for defence everything else is optional.
