Yes, people should not forget historical context and references. So it seems rather ironic that instead of providing any to explain what the thread was about, you only provided a link, no explanation, and the link itself doing provide any context.

I'm glad that the link worked, some others had problems. In any event, I put the link up, rather than posting the text so as to save space. To try to answer your question, would you please read through, once again, the following sections of the article. The section headed Disarmed Then Abandoned, and then Fifth Auxiliary Right, which makes mention of situations that existed in this country.

From what I've both seen and read, the UN seems to be overly concerned with inflicting "gun control" on people wherever it can, a situation that leaves "governments" in control of the means of force. History seems to advise, again and again, against the creation of such situations.
