The headline in 20 May Gun Week, page 2 reads as follows. Philadelphia Imposes City Gun Limits; Plans To Sue Legislature.
Such legislative action by ANY city or township in Pennsylvania runs directly counter to existing state law, the Preemption Act, which precludes political entities other than the state legislature from enacting firearms related legislation.
Of course, Philadelphia has a record of acting as if it were “in business for itself”, as if it were not a part of Pennsylvania, though it has also demonstrated it understands the way to the state money trough. When money is to be distributed, Philadelphia is very much part of Pennsylvania, or so it seems. Re other things, well judge for yourself.
I submit that the rights of the law abiding residents of Pennsylvania, even those who reside in Philadelphia, should not be sacrificed on the alter of incompetence that seemingly is the basis of operations for the government of Philadelphia, as is seemingly the desire Philadelphia/s City Council, and likely it’s mayor too.
Letting your elected things know what your think about this foolishness seems entirely appropriate, and should be done sooner rather than later.
