Pennsylvania Pre-Ban Magazine Capacity Limit?

Like other law-abiding firearms owners, I try to keep up on firearms laws, so I don't inadvertently fall victim to some stupid beaurocratical law designed solely to entrap the law abiding. In an informal discussion yesterday, I was told by a police officer that it is illegal under Pennsylvania law to be in possession of a firearm with more than 13 rounds loaded in a pre-ban magazine (!?!). That one's news to me. I don't know of a PA law that states this. I only know of the federal law, which, to the best of my understanding, allows you to have, load to capacity, and use any pre-ban magazine you want to, right? This fellow also said he thought it "might be" illegal to load a pre-ban magazine with more than 13 rounds even on a shooting range. There are lots of PA laws regarding what you can use to hunt, and they are pretty restrictive, but this discussion didn't concern hunting, it concerned legal concealed carry and general possession (I presume he meant even on our own private property). I'm not saying I even use hi-cap magazines, it's the principle that counts, and the subject matter of that discussion has the aire of b.s., which sort of ticks me off. Could someone please clear this up for me. I would like to know a statute number, etc. Thanks.

To my knowledge there is no such law regarding the amount of ammo that can be loaded in "pre ban high cap mags" Now I could be wrong on this, but I have never seen anything in writing on this.

I recall this being a thread a while back; it was determined as I recall, to be in error. No truth to it. Maybe someone can find a link.

FWIW, this guy also told us, "there is no way you can take a gun across state lines, you have to have a FFL." Another gem he said was, "You can't carry ccw in Philadelphia, even with a permit". I thought that law was overturned several years ago by a state law that says no municipality can make such laws. -10CFR

10CFR, that LEO is very typical of many cops today, who is so dumb he doesn't know the difference between post and Post Office. You can also bet your last firearm that he would be first in line to come confiscate your guns, or kill you if you "made a furtive move toward your waistband."

Unfortunately, there are a lot of LEOs out there today, exactly like him. I certainly know some.

That nonsense was one of Ed Rendell's (former mayor of Philadelphia and architect of the gun manufacturer lawsuit policy for the Democrats...this man is a pig) concepts.
The legislature pre-empted Rendell's socialist agenda.
I met this guy at a judiciary committee hearing in Harrisburg. What a creep...

Thanks for your responses. That was my opinion too. I was just reluctant to argue the point because there are so many stupid laws getting slipped in on us that I thought I might have missed something. I also picked up on his elitist attitude, for lack of a better term.
