Penn & Teller - - PETA Episode

I would like to thank you for shairing that with me

I have a good friend that donates a good sum of money to PETA and she owns a large number of animals.
I am going to shair it with her and hope she will watch it, but I am afraid that when it comes to PETA and animals her eyes and ears are shut.
Compairing KFC to what the Jews went through In WW2. I have visited Dauchu and I am a little surprised that they are compairing the two.

P.s.

The language is a little corse and it might be against the rules but PLEASE dont delete it.
It make a good argument against PETA

simply put.

peta sees animals as equals. if you start to look at it that way it all makes sense.
Well aside from the "putting them to sleep forever" thing

PETA, Greenpeace, ALF, and all the other 'wacko' groups are what was formed so all of the displaced supporters of communism and socialism would have umbrella groups after the fall of the USSR and the eastern bloc .

Y'know.. I believe that animals should be entitled to humane treatment, and that some animal testing goes far beyond reasonable and into.. well, something else. I've never had a problem with Greenpeace (when I was younger, I wanted nothing more than to be one of the guys on the zodiac skiff zipping 'round the whalers), and even go so far as to condone some of the more extreme, but non-violent, protesting done by even more out there groups.

BUT...

PETA tends to annoy and anger me. This was a well done segment, and really made its point, especially when they pointed out the diabetic VP and her hipocritical viewpoint.. But it all came together, perfectly, at the very end, when you hear her speech, rising in tempo and volume to the approval of the crowd to fade in the chanting from the Reichstag.

gfen, eats meat and still has time to occasionally hug a tree.

Wow thats weird...

when I was young I wanted to be the guy driving the big whaling boat..... I hunted in Iceland and leaving the harbor each day we drove by this big cage in a harbor. Finally I asked the captain what it was. His reply...."It is some of your stupid americans that love animals so much contraption. They transported an adult whale over from the US....put in into the cage and reintroduced it to the wild costing thousands and thosands of dollars.....when they let it go it took off towards Norway where it was killed by whalers".....the moral of the story.....the animal rights people look stupid all over the world!!!

Whether PETA or anti-PETA, the overall key to dealing with animals is "the good of the species". The PETA types get bound up in the fate of any one particular animal, ignoring the issue of carrying capacity of land and the health of the herd. Some--note "some"--anti-PETA types in commercial dealings with animals do perform over-harvest. Whaling is one activity; ocean fishing is another--and over-harvest is bad for long-term survival of a species.

That the PETA leaders go all overboard and irrational is evidenced in the basic statement from Ingrid Newkirk back when she first came to the U.S. from England: "A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy."

Sincerity does not create sanity...

Parents Take Heed

If you don't teach your child right from wrong, someone else will. Like these whackos. I can't believe these extremists are allowed in our schools. Unfortunatley, the same democracy that allows us the right to hunt and bear arms also allows for some freedom of whackoness. Still a good tradeoff IMO. Art, thanks for not closing.

Yes, King, that bothered me too. (You are talking about the clip where the PETAphile was talking at a public school weren't you?)

I've gotta agree, that was the scariest part. It only takes one child to take what they are spewing out to heart, then that child teaches others, and on and on.

And they think we're the sick ones!

Yah King this is something that bothers me to. I talk as much as I can with my daughter who is in 10th grade to see what the schools are teaching her. The schools in my area are pretty good schools. But things like this should not happen in any school. I try to teach my daughter to be a free thinker. To consider possibility and not take what the teacher says at face vaule and ask questions.

All a parent can do is use your child as a link to what the schools are doing and if they bring a group like PETA in get a bunch of parents together and raise hell.

Great vid. I can't believe they're allowed in public schools. If that happened in my community (and I found out about it), I'd be in the principals office for a nice long discussion.

I find the part where the guy in front of a class of school children compares himself to Jesus Christ particularly disturbing:

psy·cho·path Audio pronunciation of "psychopath" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sk-pth)
n. -A person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted, criminal, or amoral behavior without empathy or remorse.

"There are many types of disorders in which the Christ Complex comes into play. The worst extreme of this complex is seen in that of a psychopath. Someone that, over time, comes to operate without any regard for other humans. For instance, the most insidious and dangerous psychopaths can become mass murderers or radical cult leaders such as Jim Jones and David Koresh." -The Christ Complex, by Mara Sophia Ellen Weis R.O., ThD.D. [The Gnostic Center of Enlightenment, Milwaukee, WI]

Thank you for a great link to this short movie. I'm going to forward it to as many people I can. It will make for hours of interesting debate.

I'm shocked at PETA's hypocrisy and their killing of 2/3 of their "rescued" animals. One of the biggest animal lovers I've ever met was the head of the city animal shelter; although the shelter euthanized 60,000 animals annually. It was not by choice, rather by necessity, as a result of the public refusal to take responsibility for their pets. It is impossible to save every animal, especially with the rampant breeding by people believing they can make a profit, or people refusing to neuter their pets and then letting them run rampant.

In fact, my mother started a no-kill animal adoption center. She did great: she got radio time, she found homes for hundreds of abandoned animals, she worked with the sheriffs dept, and had people doing their community service
at the shelter. All seemed well until word really got out: She got filled to her capacity, and next, people came from all over, dumping their no longer wanted pets off on weekends, and in the middle of the night. She would find animals tied up to the fence posts, to trees etc. So it all had to end, and she came to the same conclusion the animal shelters did a long time ago: You can't save every animal.

Moral of my story:
People don't want to take responsibility for their own actions -takes too much effort. It takes far more effort to work towards a solution to a problem, especially in the face of adversity. So the third and easy way out is to play the blame game. Pawn off the responsibillity to someone else, and do what ever you want under the auspices of righteousness. These people love chaos and violence, not animals.

Great video - Penn is hilarious. Yeah, I too don't get protesting at the animal shelter for putting down unwanted strays - what would THEY do with them? Are THEY gonna feed and house them? Or just turn em loose in the city so they can starve to death, freeze to death, or get run over by a car? Makes no sense. Not to mention the hypocrisy of the peta lady with diabetes. But the video might be unfairly painting peta with alf's activities - I'm sure peta would claim it had no knowledge of illegal intended uses for the money when it gave that money to Mr. Coronado, but that could be a lie as well. Depends on what his known history had been UP TO that point in time of the donations.

Animals in some scenarios do deserve better treatment in captivity, such as chickens raised for meat and eggs. Peta just needs to focus on the real enemy (inhumane treatment) instead of marginalizing itself with the extreme ideas & behavior. But hey, that may take the retirement of the founder....Newkirk is not likely to be changing her viewpoint.

Yes! Set all our pets free!

My cats! My neighbor's dogs! Finally united!
... Because we all know that a ferrel dog would rather eat grass. :barf:

Ok. In reality... Who here has a pet? If you turned that pet loose, would it run off into the sunset under the rainbow into nature's arms and peacefully co-exist with the lions, tigers, bears, and rabid squirrels (oh my)? Or would your pet come back?

I'm guessing it's the latter of the two... And if your pets have any offspring, they're gonna raise 'em to live with us humans too... The solution? We'd have to kill all our current pets, and hope whatever strays are out there would re-populate. Very humane indeed.
