Pelican vs. Starlight cases?

I'm looking for a nice case for my SKS, a lot of recommendations, and I got it narrowed down to the starlight and the Pelican. Any comments, good or bad on either one or both?

Thanks!
Albert

I've never seen or used a starlight, but I've beat the daylights out of pelican cases for years and NEVER had one break or fail ... or even look bad for that matter. If the others are even close, you can't go wrong.
make sure you check out: http://www.pelicancases.com/pelican.htm
and other web sources for good deals.

I worked for almost 30 years in the offshore oilfields, and we used Pelican cases exclusively for sensitive items, such as calibrated guages, laptop computers, etc. Not one time even after being dropped from the +60 foot level to the deck of a crew boat did a pelican case fail :o (the laptop in it did fail :D)!. Unless you have worked there, it is difficult to put into words the abuse these cases take but they do stand up to it. The Halliburton aluminum cases are tough too, but every now and then the hinge does fail on those. The Starlight I have no experience with therefore cannot comment on it!

Albert,

Thanks for the laugh and for starting a good thread! I just can not imagine storing an SKS in a case that cost more than the SKS!

I have been thinking about getting a good travel case myself so this thread was well timed.

Well, if ever came the day, a perp broke into the house, and I point the SKS at him/her (hopefully with the bayonette on!) and he/she runs away, and I've saved my life and the life of my loved ones by doing so, then YES, my SKS would be worth gold...

Or a $16 gunmate softcase? :-)
