Pedersoli Derringer Rider pistols

I was interested in getting one of these http://www.marstar.ca/gf-pedersoli/Pedersoli-Derringer-Rider.shtm for a back-up gun. It used a #11 percussion cap with a 4.3mm BB. Could these do any damage or is it more of a pellet gun?

I think it is more of a pellet gun. The BBs would probably be stopped by even heavy clothing. I believe 4.3mm is the standard .177 cal pellets/BBs.

They are a bit smaller, 4.5=.177. Is there anything I could do to give it more power? Larger cap, black power?

Dude. If the government of CANADA thinks it's not a gun, you can be damned well certain it's harmless. A can of oven cleaner would be a better bet.

+1 on this, i was shocked to see you could buy them without a license AND SHIP THEM BY MAIL here.

Theres a you tube video of a guy shooting a beer can with one, unless you need a back up against horseflies i would recomend it only for novelty value.
