Peabody martini help required

My grandfather has a old Peabody martini rifle that we need help getting an estimate on (insurance). most of the markings are pretty warn down (not scratched off) so we cant find the manufacture.

It is about 30-40 inches long, has a short lever action on it (about 6") non rifled barrel, and has a serial of less than 4,000. I would have gotten pictures but my camera was dead but I will try to get some later.

Martini rifles sell for anywhere from $250 to $1,000, depending on condition, chambering, scarcity, desirability of the particular variant, etc. Post a picture and some of the folks here will help you out.

A great many of these rifles hwere converted to 410 shotguns. A good inexpensive barn gun. You said it was smoothbore and in well worn shape. Sorry, but it's probably not worth insuring. Value maybe a hundred dollars.
